Suffolk Fire Department

Jack Claude (with Hassell and Folkes) and I met with staff from the City's Fire Training Department and offered our property for training purposes. We are delighted that the City did have a use for this. These are pictures that show a couple of things they recently worked on - cutting through floors and walls. Since this property is soon to be demolished, we feel great about having offered it up for public service.

There are plenty of walls left and a bit of training time left. Of course, the training will stop here the moment we begin to demolish the property.

Did you know that the SWAT teams from Suffolk and our surrounding cities also used our property for training?

Signs for Our Public Hearing MARCH 26, 2008

Today we picked up the sign that will be posted on our property prior to the Planning Commission meeting on April 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

Of course, this is a BIG DEAL since we're now moving through the process rather than negotiating back and forth for seven months. FINALLY.

The sign will be posted on the property on Sunday or Monday; it has to be posted at least 15 days prior to the Planning Commision meeting.

We are also in the process of having some soil samples taken. A terrific team came out (at the request of our Hassell and Folkes team) and dug a 10-foot deep hole which will sit until tomorrow or Friday morning. At that time, soil samples will be tested and the results will be included with our application package. This part of the process is not usually done at this time, but of course we've agreed to do this since the Engineer in Public Works is insisting that we do this now rather than later. So we've got a great big hole in the property. This will be filled back in on Friday just to make sure we're safe!
